Hey there! My name is Liz and this is my cat, Penny!
My mom and sister taught me how to use my Singer Simple sewing machine in 2021, with a basic tutorial on reusable napkins. I was hooked and wanted to create more!
Over the following three years, I intermittently broke out my sewing tools and did simple projects. I wanted to dedicate more time to this craft, but always got sidetracked with different crafts, my full time job, and other activities.
Now, in 2025, after leaving my full-time job and getting married, I have the time I’ve always wanted to improve my sewing skills and pursue this craft seriously.
Many people in my life (friends, family, strangers I encounter while I have a recent creation in tow) have expressed their admiration for my sewing projects and say things like “I’ve always wanted to learn to sew” but they don’t know where to start or they haven’t had the encouragement to start.
I get that…
Vloggers often make it look so quick and easy, and they rarely ever show their mistakes or first attempts.
Magazines and Pinterest boards can be overwhelming or intimidating.
The terminology, products, and tools can be confusing.
I am a beginner! If I can create simple yet beautiful items, I believe anyone can.
My goal with this blog is to hopefully inspire and encourage you to START SEWING and create the items you’ve always dreamed of.
For each of my projects I will share my tools, resources (such as Youtube and Books), steps, mistakes and lessons learned.
I hope that this blog is a place where all self-starters and sewers of any level can feel like we aren’t alone and free to own and learn from our mistakes!
Additionally, I’ll share projects outside the sewing realm and other fringe topics as they come up just to keep things spicy.
